Welcome to my Spring newsletter
Nature is certainly bursting into life with the brightest yellow canola crops and dazzling white blossom petals fluttering from fruit trees. It is certainly a wonderful time of year!
Work in the studio has been consistent over the cooler months. The studio is a lovely warm place to be, as I work on new pieces for special events and exhibitions over the Winter.
Two such events are Longleat Estate in October and an exhibition opening in November at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery. See more details as you scroll down.
Winter is also when I submit works for selection to exhibitions. I am delighted to have one work currently on show alongside many local artists in the SAM Open exhibition at the Shepparton Art Museum. I am also pleased that my work has been selected as a finalist in the North Queensland Ceramic Award 2024 which opens in October.
Of course, all this excitement is preceded by a bit of hard yakka! and gnashing of teeth on occasion, however, I am so blessed to be working in my sunlit studio daily, producing a small range of functional and decorative pieces for my studio gallery which continues to be open to the public 3 days a week: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10am-3pm and by appointment.
With the warmer weather now upon us, I am offering several hands-on workshops for both, wheel throwing and hand-building. Group numbers will be very small due to my small studio space so it’s best to get in early if you are interested.

SAM Open 2024:
Remnants, memories, and objects
17 August – 17 November 2024
SAM Open is an open-call group exhibition for creatives aged 26 years and over who live and work in the Goulburn Valley and Hume regions.
In this year’s edition of SAM Open, local artists were invited to share their creative responses to the theme of Remnants, memories, and objects.
Across the diverse artistic responses, common subjects emerge with fabricated souvenirs of past travels, objects imbued with the memories of loved ones, and representations of past selves reoccurring across a variety of media.
Presented annually in the Hugh D.T. Williamson Community Gallery, SAM Open celebrates and showcases the creativity of our artistic community. The opportunity brings increased awareness of local practitioners to audiences and presents their work in dialogue with exhibitions by nationally recognised Australian artists.

@ Longleat Estate, Murchison
27th Oct 2024
I am so excited to be partnering with Chef; Jack Brady and Sandra and Guido Vazzoler from Longleat Estate in the creation of
‘Un Pranzo Degli Artisi” – a lunch of the artists!
I have been making individual artworks – your plate – for each guest to keep – the design inspired by the Longleat vineyard and the changing seasons.
Longleat chef; Jack, has returned from a summer in Italy with recipes to create and share and Sandra and Guido are waiting to welcome you to Longleat.
Come and join us as we celebrate our love of wine, food and art, honoring the Italian culture that inspires us. Join us in the La Zingara dining room for a 4-course degustation lunch with sparkling on arrival under the vines and your very own art plate to take home.

North Queensland Ceramic Awards
2024 biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards
Windswept – handbuilt and layered porcelain
I am really happy to have been selected as a finalist in the North QLD Ceramic Award this year. Each year I enter work into numerous national exhibitions for selection and of course, much of the time entries are not selected. However, persistence pays off eventually!
The work that has been selected will be shown alongside works by ceramic artists from across Australia. I am thrilled to be part of this show at the
Perc Tucker Regional Gallery in Townsville in October

On The Table
Solo Exhibition 2024
Kyabram Town Hall Gallery
A riot of colour, shape and function, On The Table collection of works features ceramic-topped tables suitable for outdoors or indoors and large feature vases, bowls,
candelabra and a range of celebratory vessels just oozing with decorative abandon and a whole lot of joy!
The works for this exhibition are all in the process of being made at the moment and I am smiling as I make them. I hope that you enjoy these works, as much as I am enjoying making them.
I will email further information and exhibition opening invitations soon. In the meantime, you may like to check out the other exhibitions at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery.
