Earthed 2023
Angie’s most recent porcelain sculptures can be seen through many prisms but have drawn much inspiration from the processes of transmutation and metamorphosis observed in the natural world where physical matter is never lost but is in a perpetual state of change.
Bones of the Past – Web of the Future
An installation of site specific artworks in various mediums that visually responded to stories about the River and the Flats collected from the communities of Shepparton and Mooroopna. Sculptures were installed along the walking path between the two towns. A book was also produced telling the tales and showing the artworks.
Landing Pad
Ceramic tile artwork completed as Artist in residence with Students and staff at GV Grammar School.
The work was inspired by the school emblem of the Pelican which is held in high regard by students and staff, depicted in the artwork as delivering all the skills taught at the College.
Head in the Clouds
A solo show featuring sculptures and drawings that explored mythologies from around the world that deal with Women changing into bird forms and back again. Most Stories relate to transformation through destruction and the space in between Earth and Heaven that only birds or winged creatures can traverse easily.
A Bird from the Bush
A light hearted exploration into the notion of Women often being referred to as ‘Birds’
What is it about a woman that is like a bird, or about a bird that is like a woman?
When did we begin to describe certain types of Women, or their behaviour in ornithological terms?
This collection of ceramic sculptures did not seek to provide answers to these questions, in fact it probably posed a few more! It was a visual exploration of the language that we, in this society use, and the images that such words conjure up.
Semi Circle
Semi Circle in Mooroopna was part of Such fertile ground – a statewide art project produced by Regional Arts Victoria across 12 regions. Semi Circle celebrated the Goulburn Valley as the Fruit Basket of Victoria – the sun, water and the stream of semi-trailers carrying the fruit to market. This installation was one of 12 Large site-specific works, in a range of mediums temporary installed and aerially photographed. The photographs became postcards to reveal and promote an identity of place unique to each region.
An Octopus’s’ Garden
A quirky and humorous collection of crusty, fishy and absurd forms inspired by an under sea experience filled the large window space of Potoroo Gallery, taking the audience into a deep dive.
Common Ground
Bas relief ceramic tile mural symbolically representing the life giving element of the river as the unifying reason for all life – humans, plants and animals to call this region home and as the Maude St Mall was refurbished as a communal meeting and celebration space it seemed that a celebration of our Common Ground was appropriate.
Emergence
A series of Porcelain sculptural works, partly modelled and partly formed on the wheel. Emergence was an exploration of emotions of one’s first solo show made physical; Laying one’s self bare and putting one’s self out there as an artist for the first time. Little was I to know then that as a Woman and Mother that my professional Career as an artist would have many Re- Emergent moments!
